  1. What is the duration of studies in Ukrainian higher education institutions?

The duration depends on the study of choice and varies from 2 to 6 years.

  1. Is it necessary to pass IELTS or TOEFL exams before entering a Ukrainian higher education institution?

No, it is not necessary. If the applicant does not speak English, language courses or preparatory department will help to solve this problem.

  1. Are the diplomas of Ukrainian higher education institutions recognized abroad?

Yes, they are internationally recognized diplomas and need no confirmation.

  1. What is the cost of living for a foreign student in Ukraine?

The cost of living in Ukraine is not very high. In the first three months about $500 could be needed, due to the need for payment of registration fees, the purchase of household goods and home equipment, seasonal clothes, etc. Later on the cost of food will be about $100-150 a month.

  1. How can my parents transfer money to cover my expenses?

You can transfer money directly to a bank card. Once enrolled in your studies, we recommend the student to open an account at a bank, where parents can transfer money to. The transfer process can take 10 to 15 days. However when using money transfer systems (Western Union, MoneyGram) you can receive money within 15-20 minutes.

  1. What is the preparatory department and what is its purpose?

The preparatory department is a special educational program that provides knowledge and skills to foreign students. During the first academic year (5-10 months), students study Ukrainian or Russian as well as specific subjects in accordance with the further areas of study (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Geography, Economics, Literature, etc.). After the completion of the training and passing the exam, the students receive certificates of the preparatory department which allows enrolling in the first year of university.

  1. When are the holidays in the Ukrainian academic year?

The preparatory department provides 1 week of rest for students who have passed the exams. Students with academic debts have the opportunity to pass exams in this week. A regular study year includes 2 semesters, which end with an exam session and are followed by holidays. They are two weeks in the winter (from the last week of January to the first week of February), and two months in the summer (from July 1 to August 31).

  1. What is the cost of international calls and internet services?

Calls from Ukraine to other countries are approximately 0.01-0.05 $ / minute. High-speed Internet via Wi-Fi point is provided in the hostel for $ 5-10 per month. Wi-Fi is also available for free at the university building.
