The said major has a unique specific nature as it is a symbiosis of biological, chemical and technical sciences. Ukrainian higher educational institutions accept students from all over the world and train them as engineers (biotechnologists, bioengineers), which includes the ability to obtain medicines, dietary supplements and nutritional supplements, fertilizers and plant protection substances for agriculture, the invention of new energy sources and methods of waste utilization. The graduates obtain theoretical and practical knowledge of the creation and implementation of biotechnology projects and have the skills to carry out scientific research. This opens wide opportunities for employment at industrial enterprises, research institutes and design institutes, control laboratories, sanitary-epidemiological stations, private firms, and higher educational institutions.
